Off-road riding is a social experience. Polaris’ research shows a majority of off-road enthusiasts ride with a passenger or in a group. But, the off-road riding experience has barriers. Being strapped into a vehicle with a helmet makes it difficult to communicate with passengers; having multiple gadgets such as a GoPro, GPS and a smart phone is cumbersome; and capturing ride memories to share is challenging -- often requiring multiple steps, including getting out of the vehicle, remembering to turn the GoPro on or taking gloves off to use touch interfaces. What if there was a solution to connect the disconnect? Leading the way in innovation, RIDE COMMAND is a unique solution solving the most common experiential problems with off-road riding. The RIDE COMMAND system includes the RIDE COMMAND™ app and an intuitive, glove-touch, weather-resistant RIDE COMMAND™ 7” (17.8-cm.) Display.

The term is “economy of scale”. What it means to a manufacturer like Honda, Kawasaki, or Can-Am is getting the most out of their design, tooling, and testing dollars by using the same parts on as many different models as possible. In the ATV world no manufacturer takes that concept to heart more than Polaris. It’s a good bet that if you own any given Polaris ATV or Side x Side there will be a bunch of parts that are found on several other models as well.

Trail & Race Tested - A Checkered Past

I’ve often questioned the logic in large displacement ATVs - especially ones close to or north of 700lbs. on the scale.  Yeah, we all like to have bragging rights when it comes to having the most horsepower, but when does it just become too much of a good thing?  When Polaris released their Scrambler 1000, it was no exception to those thoughts.  And even though initial ride impressions were that it was extremely nimble and forgiving for a one-liter titan of an ATV, it was still a heavy, extremely fast monster.
