South Carolina’s Big Buck GNCC Showcased a Challenging Round Two of Racing

UNION, S.C. (April 14, 2015) – Round two of the six-race Side-by-Side Championship took place on Saturday in Union, South Carolina, where the Polaris/Coastal/CST/Yokley Racing team saw its first victory of the season in the XC2 Pro Sport class. Team Driver John Henry put his Polaris RZR S 900 into the center of the podium at the Big Buck GNCC, while XC1 Pro Team Drivers Scott Kiger and William Yokley experienced a challenging day of racing at the second round. With mild temperatures and plenty of sunshine, the Big Buck GNCC saw the most favorable race conditions of the season. In the XC2 Pro Sport division, John Henry and his son/passenger grabbed the holeshot from Row 10 aboard the Polaris RZR S 900, checking in with second place on the opening lap. At the halfway point, Henry had pushed his way into the lead where he maintained that position through the checkered flag.

NAM and Polaris Industries Honor Senator Thune for Supporting Manufacturing

Clone of Polaris Introduces Sportsman and Outlaw 110 EFI Youth Models

Minneapolis, April 7, 2015- Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII), the leading manufacturer of off-road vehicles (ORVs), today introduced the Sportsman 110 EFI and Outlaw 110 EFI youth models as part of the company’s continuing innovation of its off-road product offerings. The new models are the first youth ATVs to offer EFI and will be available in dealerships in May. The Sportsman and Outlaw 110 EFI youth models will replace the current Sportsman and Outlaw 90 models and include an upgraded 110cc engine for improved off-road performance and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) for easier cold starting, reduced maintenance and improved run and idle quality. Both models will be classified as Y-10+ for riders 10 years old and older with adult supervision. The vehicles’ speed is limited to less than 15 mph/24.1 kph as delivered, and the speed control system allows adults to increase the speed to a maximum of up to 29 mph/47 kph. The Sportsman 110 EFI will be available in Sage Green while the Outlaw 110 EFI in Voodoo Blue.

Kevin Trantham Takes Second Win of the GNCC Season

 Minneapolis, April 1, 2015- Round Three of the GNCC racing series would have Team UXC Racing heading to Morganton, North Carolina looking for another win. Team UXC Racing’s Kevin Trantham and Michael Swift would leave the starting line of the 4x4 Pro Class near the rear of the pack. They would pilot their Scrambler XP 850s towards the front where Trantham would make a pass for the lead. Trantham would hold off the field and maneuver through the lap traffic to take his second win of the season and the overall. Swift would lose a belt near the finish of the race and, with pure dedication, push his vehicle through the finish line to finish sixth.  “I had an awesome day on the Team UXC Racing Polaris Scrambler XP 850. The bike worked amazing, taking everything that the brutal Steele Creek GNCC course had to offer,” said Trantham. “Thanks again to Team UXC Racing/Factory Polaris for giving me the opportunity to race some of the best equipment available.” 

Wolf, Scanlon Assume P&L Responsibility for Snowmobiles, Slingshot Respectively

(NYSE: PII) today announced that the responsibilities of retiring Vice President of Snowmobiles and Slingshot, Mike Jonikas, will be divided between two roles reporting directly to President and Chief Operating Officer Bennett Morgan.  Chris Wolf, currently General Manager, Snowmobiles, will be promoted to Vice President of that business, and Craig Scanlon will fill the role of Vice President, Slingshot. “Mike’s departure presents us with an opportunity to leverage our incredibly deep pool of talent and further develop two outstanding performers,” said Scott Wine, Polaris Chairman and CEO.  “Expanding Chris Wolf’s role into Vice President, Snowmobiles, allows him to continue the work he and Mike did spearheading the renaissance of our Snowmobile division.  And by promoting Craig Scanlon to Vice President, Slingshot, we apply the experience of one of our largest business’ chief architects toward leading a new business with substantial runway.”

(NYSE: PII) today announced that Michael (Mike) Jonikas, Vice President of Snowmobiles and Slingshot, will be retiring in May of this year. Over the past fifteen years, Mike Jonikas has been a key leader for Polaris and the powersports industry, and has made significant contributions to both.  Jonikas began his Polaris career in 2000 as a Marketing Director in the Off-Road Vehicles (ORV) division, then went on to become the first General Manager of Side-by-Side (SxS) vehicles, Vice President of Sales & Corporate Marketing and On Road, and finally VP of Snowmobile and Slingshot.  Under his guidance, Polaris’ snowmobile business has reached new heights in performance - both from the vehicles themselves and from a sales perspective - while his work with Slingshot resulted in one of the most successful product launches in Polaris history.

Sam Yokley Takes First GNCC Single-Seat Class

Minneapolis, March 23, 2015- As part of Polaris’ new partnership of the Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC) to sponsor GNCC’s newly-added Single Seat Class, The General would be the first race of the season to offer the class. Six Polaris ACE vehicles would enter to vie to be the first Single Seat winner for the season. Sam Yokley, nephew to Polaris Factory Racer William Yokley, would take the checkered flag of the three-lap race. Doug Fortner of Brocton, NY would take second and Josh Copeland, racing as part of Team UXC Racing, would take third. The next GNCC Single Seat Race will be at Big Buck, April 11, in Union, SC.
