Minneapolis, Feb 11, 2013–Since its original debut in 2008, the King of the Hammers (KOH) race has been deemed the toughest off-road race in the world. This year’s course of 115-miles of open desert racing and huge rock trails proved to be the most-difficult course yet. So hard, that Race Organizer, Dave Cole didn’t think a UTV could do it. When the dust settled only three of the 35 UTVs entered would prove Cole wrong, all being RZR XP 900s! Mitch Guthrie and his co-driver Mitch Guthrie Jr., who has won four KOH races and took second once, would take the checkered flag with his Holz Racing RZR XP 900, with Jon Crowley and Blake Van de Loo, in their Jagged X-supported RZR XP 900 taking second, and Matt Enochs in the Team Nasty RZR would finish third.

Valcourt, Québec, February 1, 2013 – The 2013 Can-Am® Maverick™ 1000R X® rs made its competitive debut at the WORCS ATV and side-by-side racing series this past weekend at a waterlogged Canyon MX in Peoria, Ariz. The opening round not only marked the first official race for the Maverick side-by-side, but also the return of the Can-Am DS 450™. The dismal track conditions, which included deep mud, standing water and wet sand in additional to the normal desert obstacles, made for a challenging start to the 2013 season. Two Can-Am racers, James Hill and David Martinez, posted top 10 finishes in the SxS Pro Production class in their Maverick 1000R X rs vehicles.“Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and the overall event became a real race for survival in the mud and deep, standing water. In its competition debut, the Can-Am Maverick 1000R side-by-side vehicle’s top finish was sixth, though we competed in the lead pack early on,” said Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “We are very optimistic for the upcoming events, as all the drivers are thrilled with the performance and handling of the Maverick on the race course. We all realize that it is a long season and we are carrying a positive attitude about the eight rounds of WORCS racing that remain.”

Blingstar's Nick Nelson Takes Top Five in WORCS Pro SXS Opener

vendor.2013.blingstar.polaris-rzr-side-x-side.racing.at-worcs.jpg
Peoria, AZ - Blingstar's newly assembled team of drivers showed off their newly equipped Polaris RZR XP 900's at the muddy first round of the 2013 WORCS racing series in Peoria, AZ at Canyon MX. For 2013, the Blingstar race team consists of Clint Roberts, Nick Nelson, and Wes Miller, and Nelson kicked off the season with a top five finish in the SxS Pro Production. "Our team is really excited for this year. We can't wait to show everyone what we're all about," said Roberts of the newly assembled team. The Blingstar team was unable to race for qualifying times on Friday because their travels were delayed due to extreme weather conditions. Because of their late arrival, both Nelson and Roberts had to start on the fourth row. Miller was unable to attend the race due to X-Game filming commitments for this round. Nelson didn't let his back of the pack start stop him from vying for a good finish. Nelson worked his way through mud and water to gain at least one position with each passing lap. Amazingly, Nelson went from a fourteenth place in lap one to an impressive fifth place finish in his Blingstar Polaris RZR XP 900." The RZR held up great. Everything was really solid. The body work kept out a lot of the mud and I didn't have any issues," said Nelson of his Blingstar RZR XP 900. Clint Roberts changed his race strategy after finishing the first lap. "After we came through lap one, my mentality went from race mode to survival mode. I literally just wanted to finish the race," regarded Roberts of the brutal track conditions. Roberts continued his race although he was spun around a few in the sloppy conditions, but Roberts didn't let the mishaps stop him, and he crossed the line in 11th place out of 23 racers, which earned him some valuable points to kick off the WORCS season. Roberts not only gained valuable points but he and his team also proved the Blingstar RZR's are durable. Roberts went from 20th position to 11th and although the mud made for terrible track conditions the Blingstar outfitted RZRs with Fox Shox, DWT wheels and tires, Motoworks exhaust and SSi Graphics really handled the mud with no issues. "I'm excited Nelson and I got points and finished the race. Our RZR's really held up out there and we are looking forward to some dry conditions at Primm," said Roberts. Round two of the WORCS SxS racing season is just two weeks away in Primm, Nevada at Buffalo Bills Casino on February 9th, and the Blingstar team of racers will be back in action going for a podium finish.
