Justin Oquendo wrapped up a dominating year in the Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts 1450 class by clinching the season championship at the final event, The Rage At The River at the Laughlin Events Park in Nevada. Justin scored the most points at five out of his six races this year, showing that he was truly in a class of his own. Justin races a Kibbetech Racing built Ford Ranger. The 418 cubic inch LS3 engine was built by Mullenix Racing Engines and utilizes Holley HP EFI to control the powertrain, Holley fuel rails to supply fuel, and a Holley 95 mm throttle body to provide air, while Earl's Performance Plumbing fittings, lines, and cooler work to keep the power steering system's temperature under control. Justin has been very impressed with the Holley EFI system. In speaking with Justin, he said "My Holley EFI system has been unstoppable! I have had zero issues in 22 months of use. Its self-tuning is amazing. We used to spend an entire day tuning, but now 6-7 dyno pulls get it where it needs to be."

The last decade has not been kind to Wolverines, whether it was the economic downturn felt by the Wolverine State of Michigan, the four-legged forest dweller, or the cellar dwellers of Big Ten football, the Michigan Wolverines.  All three were seemingly on the brink of extinction, and even the comic book character Wolverine was killed off in recent months, but there may be hope on the horizon.

As much as we enjoy climbing up a rocky trail or slogging through a muddy pond on a utility ATV, we’ll always be sport riders at heart. The challenge of shifting up through the gears, pitching your machine around a corner, or sailing off a jump is more intense on a sport machine, and we really like how a great sport machine can challenge your skills as much as the trail. Nothing else can match the power to weight ratio and acceleration, especially if you’re on a healthy 450cc machine, or better yet, Yamaha’s Raptor 700.

Xtremeplus’ Willy Alcaraz Wins Fourth Dakar in Polaris RZR XP 1000

Minneapolis, Jan. 19, 2015–Xtremplus’ Willy Alcaraz made it an unprecedented fourth time he’d win the Dakar and the third time riding solo, this time in a RZR XP 1000. This year’s Dakar Rally was 9,000 Kilometers, spanning three countries with 140 competitors taking on some of the toughest geography offered in an off-road race. Alcaraz, similar to the bike riders, would run the race without a windshield and faced the heat, cold, rain, hail, salt, temperatures below zero, altitude and at the end of the race, a storm and mud. He would not only take his class but also finish in 46th place out of the 67 remaining cars in the car category. “I am exhausted! This Dakar was hard until the very end, but I am happy to get the fourth victory in T3 and the third in Solo,” said Alcaraz. “At the end, in spite of the bad weather, I was able to manage my distance and make it to the end. The Polaris RZR XP 1000 is a well-made machine that has been magnified by the preparation of one of the most professional workshops in Pont de Vaux. I want to thank Nico, Manu, Thierry, Francis, Sylvain, Alexis, you guys do an extraordinary work every night to make the RZR as new, and in a very friendly environment and good humor which makes me feel better when I get to the bivouac every evening. Also, I want to thank Marco Piana, Norberto Cangani and Steven Griener in the T4 truck (race truck), because we know that in case of a problem, they are not very far.”
