Club Car Compact Utility Transport Vehicles Get EFI Engine

Best-in-Class Engines Simplify Usage, Boost Power and Don’t Require Oil Filters
2014.club-car.xrt800.red.loaded.in-truck-bed.jpgAugusta, GA. – All new Club Car compact XRT™800 and XRT™850 utility transport vehicles (UTVs) manufactured after April will feature powerful new Subaru 14-hp rated, 404-cc, single-cylinder overhead cam engines with electronic fuel injection (EFI).

“EFI technology replaced carburetors on automobiles during the 1980s and 1990s, and is not uncommon on larger, more expensive UTVS. But it’s far from industry standard on compact UTVs, largely because of high development and production cost,” says Ross Lyons, product manager of the company’s utility platform. “Yet EFI makes a tremendous difference in performance.”

What is EFI?

Unlike carburetors, which suction fuel, EFI systems atomize fuel by forcibly pumping it through a small nozzle under high pressure. The engine starts right up, because its engine control unit automatically adjusts the fuel-to-air ratio based on operating conditions.

The EFI engines also improve horsepower by 30 percent over the previous engines and deliver best-in-class acceleration, hill-climbing ability, fuel economy, range and peace of mind.

Other Benefits

EFI systems monitor and ration gasoline to maintain the engines’ optimum combustion mixture. The pressurized fuel system makes the engine less sensitive to contaminants in the fuel, thereby reducing problems starting the engine. Almost anyone who’s operated a mower, string trimmer or chain saw has experienced this problem.

The Subaru engines also feature capacitive discharge ignition for more precision ignition timing and better starting when cold, hemispherical heads that improve fuel efficiency, and automotive case-hardened steel timing chains that boosts reliability.

Subaru’s splash lubrication system requires no oil filter. That makes oil changes easier and eliminates the hassles associated with buying, changing and disposing of filters.

All that makes the XRT800 and XRT850 great choices for men and women trail riders, home owners with acreage, campers, hunters and others.

Durable Rustproof Frames

These vehicles also feature the industry’s only rustproof, corrosion-resistant, aircraft- grade aluminum frame. So they deliver long life and retain their value.

Both the XRT800 and the XRT850 come with the choice of a fold-down, rear-facing, two-passenger seat that converts into a small flat bed or an aluminum cargo bed that carries up to 150 pounds. And they both fit into the back of a pickup truck.
