The 2016 Can-Am Commander  side-by-side vehicle family offers off-road enthusiasts another package  with the introduction of the new Commander  MAX DPS 800R, the most affordable Can-Am Commander  MAX package  ever offered. The newest Commander  MAX offers comfortable, stadium-style seating for four adults, a 30.3-inch (77 cm) longer wheelbase  (compared  to the two-seater) and unmatched comfort for the rear passengers. The Can-Am Commander MAX 1000 side-by-side, with its comfortable, stadium-style seating for four grown adults, offers the most innovative and versatile rec-utility performance in the industry. The Commander MAX platform features a 29.5-inch (75 mm) longer wheelbase (compared to the two-seater) and unmatched comfort for the rear passengers. The MAX platform includes three packages: DPS,™ XT™ and LIMITED. New colors, like Mossy Oak Break-Up Country Camo, a new belt-monitoring mechanism and improved maintenance schedule are the key highlights for 2016.

The 2016 Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicles have a new reduced break-in maintenance requirement, reducing ownership costs and time. The Commander family also arrives in 2016 with new color offerings and an all-new, specialized Commander Mossy Oak† Hunting Edition 1000 package. The Commander 800R comes in Light Grey for the new model year. Each displacement level is also available in the popular DPS™ (Dynamic Power Steering) and XT™ packages. The Commander 1000 also can be obtained in the sporty XT-P™ and luxurious LIMITED packages.

New ModelsOutlander L 450 / Outlander L 500Utilizing a similar G2 SST frame introduced previously on the larger-bore Outlander models, the new Outlander L 450 and L 500 ATVs feature classleading power and design, but are the most affordable and value-packed Can-Am 4x4 ATVs to date. Complete with an unprecedented five-year extended warranty, CVT and steel racks, the Outlander L models come with either an all-new 38-HP liquid-cooled, single-cylinder Rotax four-stroke or the established 46-HP liquid-cooled, SOHC Rotax V-Twin engine. Both models are also offered with the optional Can-Am DPS package, which includes Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS), Visco-Lok QE, larger magneto and cast-aluminum wheels. 

Valcourt, Québec, November 21, 2013 – Can-Am® ATV and side-by-side racers competed in the 46th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 desert endurance race over the past weekend in Mexico, and came away with one class victory and an impressive third-place finish it the UTV class. Team UXC Racing / Can-Am racer Michael Swift rode the entire 833-mile course alone to win Class 26 aboard his Outlander™ 4x4 ATV. Cory Sappington also finished the race, earning third overall in Class 19 (UTV) with his Desert Toyz / Can-Am Maverick™ 1000R side-by-side vehicle.  “I’m very pleased with Michael Swift’s Class 26 win, considering the fact that he raced the entire Baja 1000 solo and it was said to be one of the most grueling courses in the history of the race,” said Jeff Leclerc, Racing Project Leader, Can-Am. “Despite a few challenges in the UTV race, I was thrilled to learn Desert Toyz driver / owner Cory Sappington earned the first Baja 1000 podium for the Can-Am Maverick 1000R side-by-side.”

Valcourt, Québec, September 15, 2013 – BRP has expanded its line of Can-Am® side-by-side vehicles with the new 2014 Commander™ MAX 1000 and Maverick™ 1000R X® mr. The new models were unveiled at its dealer show in Orlando, Fla. Along with the two new vehicles, BRP also unveiled a new Can-Am Red colour for the Maverick two-seater and Maverick MAX packages, and Light Grey on certain Outlander™ 4x4 ATVs. Commander MAX 1000 DPS / XTThe new Can-Am Commander MAX 1000 DPS has a 29.5-inch (75 mm) longer wheelbase (29.5 in. / 75 mm) and seating for four adults as compared to the two-seat Commander. Outfitted with Dynamic Passenger Comfort, which includes dual handholds, stadium-style seating and industry-leading comfort for its rear occupants, the Commander MAX is also available in an XT package. Both Commander MAX models use the proven 976cc Rotax V-Twin engine; Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering, Double A-arm front suspension and TTI rear suspension. The Commander MAX can tow up to 1,500 pounds (680 kg) and carry 600 pounds (463 kg) in the dual-level cargo box. The Commander MAX DPS and XT are offered in Yellow. The XT package, which includes a WARN winch, front bumper, mud guards and more, is also offered in painted Pure Magnesium Metallic and NEXT G-1 Vista camouflage.
