GBC Motorsports Racers Seeking GNCC Championships After Unadilla

Anaheim, Calif. - September 16, 2016 - After a long summer break the Grand National Cross Country Series returned to action at the legendary Unadilla MX in New Berlin, NY. GBC Motorsports racers were among the record-setting 2,080 entries at Round 10 of the series, all of which had to battle slick conditions following heavy rainfall Thursday night.
Kevin Yoho (#605) took the AM Overall top spot and won the Sportsman A/B class.
GBC Motorsports racers got off to a good start in the morning races, as Kevin Yoho won the Sportsman A/B class while laying down the fastest time to take the AM Overall. Justin Wood added a class victory in the 4x4 Senior ranks, and is leading in the points standings after ten rounds.

Jordan Phillips and Ben Bruce finished 5th and 6th respectively in the highly competitive 4x4 Pro class, while Ronald Varndell took 2nd in 4x4 A/B to extend his points lead. Richard Taylor made a podium appearance with a 3rd place finish in Masters, and also leads the class standings.

Katelyn Osburn finished 4th in WXC, while fellow GBC Motorsports racer Kara Merritt followed in 6th. Merritt is in 3rd place in the WXC standings with just three rounds of racing left on the calendar.

As the afternoon races got underway, it became clear that many GBC Motorsports sponsored racers were in the hunt for class championships this season. With just three races following Unadilla, solid finishes would be necessary to extend points leads or help riders inch closer to the top of the standings.

Landon Wolfe raced his Ground Buster III tires to a career-best 5th Overall finish.
Landon Wolfe certainly showed the New Berlin crowd that a summer full of training and preparation pays off. Wolfe excelled in the hard packed slick conditions with the Ground Buster III, the latest cross country rear tire from GBC Motorsports. His 5th place finish in the XC1 Pro class earned him 5th place in the PM Overall, a career best. Johnny Gallagher and Tucker Wyatt finished 9th and 11th in XC1 competition, respectively.
Marty Christofferson took 2nd in XC2 and is within striking distance of the class championship.
Marty Christofferson led the XC2 Pro-Am field all day before a last lap crash relegated him to 2nd place. Christofferson will continue to put the Ground Buster III tires to the test as he attempts to chase down the XC2 class leader in the final three races.

Nick Mastrangelo finished 4th in Junior A competition and holds onto 3rd place in the standings, while Tom Koontz took 2nd in the Vet A class. Koontz is just 2 points behind the class leader heading into Round 11.

Morgan Flannery added a top 5 finish with a 4th place in Junior A, and sits in 3rd place in the class. Bryan Filicky finished 2nd in Junior B while Cory Blinkiewicz topped the Vet B class. Both racers sit in 2nd place in the standings in their respective classes, and will battle for class championships in the final weeks of the season.
