The last decade has not been kind to Wolverines, whether it was the economic downturn felt by the Wolverine State of Michigan, the four-legged forest dweller, or the cellar dwellers of Big Ten football, the Michigan Wolverines. All three were seemingly on the brink of extinction, and even the comic book character Wolverine was killed off in recent months, but there may be hope on the horizon.

CYPRESS, Calif. – April 21, 2015 – Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, recently donated a new Special Edition Matte Silver Viking VI Side-by-Side (SxS) vehicle to the SEAL-Naval Special Warfare Family Foundation. The Assembled in USA Viking VI was auctioned at a Foundation fundraiser near San Diego, raising $22,000 for the organization’s mission of supporting SEAL members’ families. The SEAL-Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Family Foundation is a San Diego based 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that raises awareness and funds for special programs in direct support of the NSW families on a local, national and global scale. CYPRESS, Calif. – April 14, 2015 – The all-new Yamaha Wolverine R-Spec Side-by-Side (SxS) vehicle production is in full swing this month at Yamaha’s U.S. factory in Newnan, Georgia. Yamaha dealers are receiving units this month – just in time for spring hunting and summer off-roading seasons. The all-new Wolverine R-Spec sets a new standard in off-road capability and class-leading comfort. It is designed and engineered for exploring extreme terrain and features an all-new nimble chassis with a compact design, look and feel. The Wolverine’s comfortable and secure cab has seating for two, and its injection-molded composite fixed-position cargo bed is both lightweight and durable for long, rough rides. “The Wolverine R-Spec is made for hunters, explorers and off-road adventure seekers,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s ATV/SxS group marketing manager. “This is a hard core off-roading, expedition worthy machine. The Wolverine’s class-leading handling and off-road capabilities will set a new standard in the SxS world. We can’t wait until people are able to get some seat time in this all-new Yamaha Side-by-Side.”

Dustin Nelson Signs with Kanati Tires for 2015 Race Season

Anaheim, Calif. – March 26, 2015 – Kanati Tires recently signed the Yamaha Motor/Icon Vehicle Dynamics car piloted by Dustin Nelson for the 2015 Lucas Oil Offroad Racing Series. The Yamaha blue #94 vehicle will be running a combination of the LT255x75R16 Mud Hogs up front and the 31x10.5R15LT Kanati Mud Hogs on the rear of the car in Lucas Oil Pro Lite races this year. “We’ve got a brand new team with a really great looking truck,” Nelson said, “and we are excited to see how well the Kanati Tires perform for us this season.”

Future Wolverine R-Spec customers can now see what their customized machine might look like via the interactive site: www.yamahawolverine.com.   Yamaha currently has more than thirty-five accessories for the Wolverine R-Spec, an all-new Side-by-Side (SxS) vehicle that sets a new standard in off-road capability and class-leading comfort. The new 2016 Wolverine R-Spec model was unveiled in January 2015 and is scheduled for production this month. Wolverines are being delivered directly to Yamaha dealers across the country throughout the spring from Yamaha’s U.S. manufacturing plant in Newnan, Georgia.

CYPRESS, Calif. – March 3, 2015 – Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., was awarded the 2015 FinOvation Award from Farm Industry News magazine for its Viking VI Side-by-Side (SxS) utility vehicle. The FinOvation Award is designed to celebrate the spirit of innovation and recognize new products that have received the most interest from Farm Industry News readers. This is the second consecutive year Yamaha has received the award. In 2014, the premier Viking model that introduced the first true three-person seating capacity in a SxS vehicle earned a FinOvation Award. “We’re honored to receive the FinOvation award for a second consecutive year,” said Steve Nessl, ATV/SxS marketing manager, Yamaha Motor Corporation. “It’s especially rewarding to know the award is based on positive responses from people who rely so heavily on their utility vehicles for day-to-day toughness, durability and performance in the field.” Nessl accepted the award on behalf of Yamaha at the 50th Annual National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville.

CYPRESS, Calif. – February 26, 2015 – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., has announced its 2015 ATV race teams featuring reigning champions and contenders riding the 2015 Yamaha YFZ450R in both the national MX and cross country series. Leading the MX teams for Yamaha in 2015 is three-time AMA Pro ATV champ Chad Wienen on his Wienen Motorsports/SSI YFZ450R. He is looking forward to starting his title defense at the inaugural Daytona SX event. Maxxis/Moto-XPerts Thomas Brown, who took third in AMA Pro ATV competition in 2014, returns to Yamaha again this season and also has his sights set on a 2015 championship.

CYPRESS, Calif. – February 5, 2015 – Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America (YMMC) and Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. (YMUS), have reached a historic manufacturing milestone recently surpassing the completion of 3 million vehicles at the U.S. manufacturing facility in Newnan, Georgia. The historic 3 millionth unit was a Grizzly 700 ATV, one of the best selling utility 4x4 ATVs of all time, and it was completed in late December 2014. Yamaha held a celebration at the Newnan factory on January 23, 2015, to recognize this significant milestone and thank the company’s employees for their dedication to producing the highest quality vehicles. Among the vehicles produced at YMMC are ATVs, Side-by-Side (SxS) vehicles, Golf Cars and Personal Watercraft.

Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative Awards $225,000 in 2014

CYPRESS, Calif. – February 2, 2015 – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., today announced it has contributed more than $35,000 in funds and equipment to three GRANT applicants from the last funding cycle in 2014. The final GRANTs of 2014 bring the annual total to more than $225,000, advancing the mission of promoting safe, responsible use and open, sustainable access. In celebration of this milestone, Yamaha sponsored Outdoor Life magazine’s Open Country Awards at this year’s Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas. “Yamaha’s efforts to be more inclusive by embracing the diversity of the outdoor enthusiast and OHV user community has been met with great enthusiasm. Yamaha has injected more than $2.5 million into 250 projects across the country focused on addressing a wide spectrum of access issues,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha ATV and SxS group marketing manager. “Everyone involved in the Yamaha GRANT program is extremely proud of the work we have accomplished, but – as always – there is much more to be done. The call to action to all outdoor enthusiasts is to continue to identify existing problems or potential opportunities for motorized recreation.”
