(August 22, 2017) – In its final four-wheel powersports new-model announcement of the year, the leading manufacturer of multipurpose ATVs today unveiled four 2018 models, including the family of FourTrax® Ranchers®—America’s best-selling line of ATVs. At the same time, Honda announced the hard-working FourTrax Foreman®, the sporty TRX90X, and the Pioneer 500 side-by-side.

Can-Am X-Team and Maverick X3 Turbo R side-by-side vehicle racers Phil Blurton and Kyle Chaney each earned an impressive off-road endurance racing victory this past weekend. Blurton won the 2017 Best In The Desert UTV Turbo class in Nevada, while Chaney earned the win at the Pro Unlimited UTV race at the Heartland Challenge in Iowa.

Not since Little House on the Prairie have we been so fond of a Pioneer family. I grew up riding dirt bikes, 3 wheelers, quads and 4X4’s in the desert. As I got older, starting a marriage, a family, and two companies took all of my time and then some, but it was hard not to miss the riding and the dirt toys of youth. It was time to get back into the sport but with the current responsibilities to family and employees I would need the protection of a roll cage.

 An old expression comes to mind when it comes to the subject of choosing an ATV for a young rider. “It’s like shooting fish in a barrel”. Your choices are far from limited. The problem is that while there is a large pool to choose from, there are very few that are worthy of taking up the space on your garage floor. You can’t pick up a weekly auto-swapper magazine without seeing the ads for no-name 50, 90, 110, or even 125cc youth ATVs, many of which can be had for less money than a monthly payment on a new diesel pickup.
