Safety Gear - Protect Your Neck

A Look at the Leatt-Brace Protection System

The one injury athletes in every sport fear is devastating damage to the spine.  However remote the possibility, it’s always there and for the unfortunate few who suffer such an injury, it’s almost always a life changing event.  Thankfully, new materials, better methods, and advanced medical research have aided the recovery for some, but nothing beats doing all you can to avoid the injury in the first place.

Riding Gear - Fly Girl Gear

Strong Enough for a Man, but made for a Woman!

Visit any ride area and you will find women, lots of women, out enjoying riding just as much as the guys.  Ask any fun-loving girl if she wants to go riding and the result will almost always be an enthusiastic, “yes!”  For the most part, riding an ATV or Side x Side is a pretty gender neutral sport  and women can ride anything the guys can, often times even better, but there is one area where they have sadly been left behind.  Women have been largely overlooked by the companies that make riding gear and mostly end up wearing gear made for guys.

New Product Test - Snow Eagle

Testing American Manufacturing's Generation II Eagle Plow

One of the best-selling accessories for ATV and Side x Sides is an aftermarket plow. With their maneuverability, 4wd, and ability to work in tight quarters, an ATV or UTV with a plow can get into places a tractor or truck mounted plow can’t reach, and they’re much more cost effective. If you already own an ATV or Side x Side, it’s a no-brainer to turn it into a winter work tool as well.

For thousands of years there have been mining operations in North America, and everything from copper to coal to turquoise and tar was hewn from the ground and either made into items of higher value or used in its raw form.  Regardless of the material or the geography, mining always has been and still is a tough business.  As long as we keep using electricity, we’ll need mines.  Every mine comes with two identical problems, however: the material being extracted is limited, and when played out you’ve got a big hole in the ground, especially with surface mines.

We spent the better part of last summer running around the north woods on the friend and family friendly, four seat sensation called the Polaris RZR4.  Regardless of whether we were in the driver’s seat or the back seat, it’s impossible not to have a great time on the RZR4 thanks to the long wheelbase, super stable platform, and silky smooth, stock FOX shocks.  It’s a blast to cruise down the trail on the RZR4, but we always felt it could use a little more power.

What We Learned from a Year on the Trail

It’s our job to let you know exactly what to expect from every vehicle we test.  We want you to know what a machine is capable of long before you hand the dealer a check, and that means everything from fit and finish to average maintenance tasks.  We use our test ATVs exactly like you do; for work duty, for weekend play, and as hunting buddies.  After a year with the Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4i here is what we’ve found.

To say the King of the Hammers event is a tough race but might be a fun challenge is a little like saying a Badger has a slightly intolerant disposition but would otherwise make a fine family pet.  To even enter the event raises a whole host of questions, especially when you consider that almost 60% of those who start the race never finish, and in some classes the attrition rate is much higher than that!

It all started as a way to escape the daily grind by playing around at the biggest sand box in the country.  Way back in 2002, the event was known as “Goons in the Dunes” and was more of an informal gathering of friends and riding buddies than an organized factory outing.  But like so many activities that take on a life of their own, the die for a tradition had been cast.

The Green Team has been on a roll. In the past year, Kawasaki has introduced all-new Brute Force 300 and Brute Force 750 ATV’s, and at their dealer show, they previewed the new Teryx4 750 4x4 Side x Side. That was only a teaser and we weren't allowed to ride the new Kawasaki at their Florida dealer meeting. So when Kawasaki’s Jon Rall called asking if we would like to come to Tennessee’s Brimstone Recreation to try the new Teryx4 750, we grabbed our gear and were on our way.
